February 2 va Holy
Spirit Pre
The Lady Cougars played an aggressive
game yesterday engaging in more jump balls than they
have had all season. Despite the competitiveness soaking
the court, TCS' sportsmanship skyrocketed. Eboney
Turnipseed led the scoring with eleven points, including
a three-pointer, followed closely by Kay Winter with
ten points, also including a three-pointer. Ashley
Held helped to solidify our scoring efforts with a
basket in the second quarter, and Andrea Schultz came
through on a foul shot.
According to Coach Misty Hamby,
"Our next game is Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Mill
Springs Academy, then we play our last two games
of the season next week before the tournament begins
the following week. If you have not had a chance
to come and support your Lady Cougars, our last
home game is this Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. at Waller
Park against Devereaux."
January 28: Homecoming
vs Hidden Lake Academy

Jan. 20 vs. Brandon
Hall
The Brandon Hall Panthers
bring the best out of the Lady Cougars, as this
was the best game yet of the season! Ending with
a score of 31-18, Eboney Turnipseed led the pack
sinking 19 points. She was followed closely by Jena
Infante who garnered 12, including two three-pointers
to begin the game. The Lady Cougars displayed a
lot of class on the court, even as two of the opposing
team members fouled out on them. Thanks to those
who visited us an exit south, and we look forward
to seeing you all at Homecoming!
Jan. 18 vs. CEA
The Lady Cougars played
their best game of 2006 so far. Though we fell to
a 19 point deficit, CEA (and Brandon Hall whom we
play tomorrow) seem to be our closest competitor(s)
and pull out the best in our girls. Eboney Turnipseed
led our scoring with a goal in each of the last
three quarters followed closely by Kay Winter with
five points and both Andrea Schultz and Lauren Zabroske
sinking a foul shot a piece. Thanks to those who
have visited our games so far. Our next and last
home game (besides Homecoming when we play at 6
p.m.) will be on Tuesday, February 7 at Waller Park.
Dec. 12 vs Covenant
Christian Academy
The Cottage School
Lady Cougars, tied for fourth place in the league,
played second-place Covenant Christian yesterday
in Cumming. Though giving it their all, they fell
to a defeat of 65 to 7. Lauren Zabroske commenced
the TCS score with a goal in the first quarter followed
by Eboney Turnipseed scoring the final five points
(a free throw in the first quarter, a goal in the
third quarter, and a goal in the fourth quarter).
Though the night did not yield a win for us, the
Lady Cougars put forth a lot of heart and vigor.
Dec. 7 vs CEA
In Wednesday action,
the Cougars completed a sweep against Conference
foes CEA. The Lady Cougars picked up their second
win of the season by a convincing 30 – 14
score. Ashley Held and Jena Infante provided important
rebounding and inside play throughout the game,
while guards Kay Winter and Ebony Turnipseed shouldered
the offensive load. The Cougar bench maintained
defensive intensity as well.
Dec. 6 vs Holy Spirit
Prep
The Lady Cougars
lost in a close contest to GISA opponent Holy Spirit
Prep. Eboney Turnipseed played really well at the
point position and dominated her opponents on the
defensive side. Jena Infante, Kay Winter, and Ashley
Held also played really stout defense.
Dec. 1 vs Brandon
Hall
The Lady Cougars picked
up their first win of the season, outlasting Brandon
Hall by a 18 – 12 score. Senior Jeanne Marshall
paced the Cougar attack by converting a variety
of inside baskets and by dominating the defensive
boards to spark the Cottage fast break. Kay Winter
and Ebony Turnipseed distinguished themselves by
attacking the basket on offensive and through tough
defense against the Brandon Hall backcourt.
Nov. 18 vs Hidden
Lake Academy
The
undermanned Lady Cougars ran into a hot shooting
and defensive minded HLA squad. Kay Winter
carried the offensive load by sniping from the perimeter,
while Eboney Turnipseed ran the offense from the
point guard position. Lauren Zabroske and Anita
Greene provided energy and defensive punch off the
bench.
