As Principal of the High School program of The Cottage School, I would first like to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and secondly, to welcome you to our school program. The Cottage School is a unique setting that addresses the total student. The Academic Growth, the Social Emotional Development and the Plan for the Future are all equally addressed. Through the structured approach that has been developed since our inception, each student is provided with an opportunity to experience success in whatever specific areas of strength they possess, while learning the strategies to develop accommodating and self advocacy skills for their areas of need. |

By providing a blend of academic and experiential programming, students develop a strong sense of their individual skill level and, based on their strengths, develop the confidence to venture into those areas of academics, athletics or social interaction which, in the past, had presented barriers too frightening to attempt. Year after year, I witness the growth, development, and blossoming of students as they develop strengths that were always there but not accessible. Each year ends with a celebration of accomplishments and achievements. As each graduating senior acknowledges those who have made the path easier to follow and expresses a renewed confidence in the future, the attending staff is refueled by their joyous celebration, and the cycle is once again completed.
