This course provides an opportunity for students to develop strategies for better success in taking this high-stakes test. Students will engage in activities to familiarize themselves with aspects of test taking, including relaxation and visualization techniques, approaching the tests with effective strategies, and identifying what the students is asked to produce.
Much has been publicized about the new format for the SAT, which was implemented in March 2005. Three scores will be reported, additional aspects are included, and some components have been deleted. This course provides an opportunity for students to develop strategies for better success in taking this high-stakes test. Students will engage in activities to familiarize themselves with aspects of test taking. This will include relaxation and visualization techniques, approaching the test with effective strategies, and identifying what the student is being asked to produce. Practice tests will be administered and discussed, with specific information and focus placed on the new aspects of the revised SAT Format, particularly the written expression component. Invest in yourself by investing in preparation.
Sessions are open to any high school student who is preparing for the SAT. (Geometry is a pre-requisite for the course.) Classes will be held on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.
